Rain Rain Please Calm Yourself

This rain has been completely overwhelming. I guess my rain dance did its job above and beyond my intentions. Beggars can’t be choosers. I know. We had tornado warnings all over the north part of the state, and during class, security rushed in and told us all to get in the hall and away from windows. We all just looked at each other, out the window, then hurried up out of the room. When I got home I had to take Georgia out to potty, and we got to break in her new raincoat. She was so not having this rain, and just stared at me like, “WHY THE HELL ARE WE EVEN OUT HERE?!”

It was  absolutely crazy. As a result of all of this rain our cable and internet have been out for almost 48 hours, and OF COURSE it was right before I had my final exam research paper due for English. Luckily, we were able to get the internet back up and running, but our cable is still on the fritz. One minute it’s working just dandy and the next, I get the red screen of death. Thank you Xfinity for your shotty service. Not going to lie though, I called them this morning for the 5th time because none of their suggestions were working. I got some guy based in Texas and he was SO nice and super helpful. I was almost late for class because we were talking about rescue pups. So nice!

On another note, I have been making use of my jars from Just a Little Nuts when I get down to the bottom of the goods. I’ll dump in some quick oats, a little cinnamon, dark chocolate chips, and I think this one had bananas in it . SO FREAKIN’ GOOD! I can’t get over it. Karma (Maple Almond Macadamia Butter) is my absolute fave. This isn’t an ad, and I’m not being paid to sing her praises. In fact, I don’t think she even knows I have a blog. But Denise is seriously one of the most genuine people I have ever met, and her butters are sent from heaven above.

Anyways, I hope y’all are making a smooth transition into December. I am still trying not to just throw my books on the ground and walk out of class. I keep reminding myself that I’ve almost made it. The semester is almost over!

Happy Holidays!

Back from Break

header

You know you’re getting older when you get excited for rain… enough to dance around the bedroom when the news does their forecast. We have been having crazy wildfires in North Georgia and a ridiculous drought so this rain is most certainly needed. I just want to snuggle down in the couch with a book (probably a textbook because the wonderful season of finals is upon us), and listen to the storm rage outside. Georgia doesn’t seem nearly as excited. We have quickly learned that even the sounds of high winds bring out the giant puppy inside of her that whines until someone holds her. Fantastic. Maybe we will invest in one of those thunder jackets. Has anyone used one of those? It looks just like the jacket we got for her on sale at Petco (Similar). Maybe I can just put that on her instead? Maybe?

The break for Thanksgiving was lovely, but I can honestly say I am glad it’s over. We hosted this year for the first time… in our tiny condo with a kitchen that is about the size of a king size bed. We had around 15 people and it was so much fun, but oh so exhausting. With two sets of divorced parents, it is so much easier to just have everyone come to us rather than hit up four different houses. Luckily, we are blessed with parents that put their differences aside and are willing to come together for the betterment of their kiddos. If you had asked me 10 years ago if I ever thought my parents would celebrate a holiday together again, it would be a definite, HELLLLL to the NOOO. But things change and people chill TF out and rediscover their priorities.

So if you’re going through some sort of crappy situation, or your family isn’t what it used to be, I hope this holiday season brings you some sort of clarity. Our holiday get togethers will never be the 50+ people packed into my grandparents’ house that it used to be. But that’s ok. We will establish our own cock-eyed, blended, chaotic family traditions.

Happy Holidays.

10 Things About Me

about-me-photo

I thought maybe a quick post with some info about me would be a good way to start out, so here we go!

  1. I was born and raised in the suburbs about 45 minutes outside of Atlanta. I currently reside in north Atlanta.
  2. I married my high school sweetheart in April 2016. We have been together for a little over 6 years.
  3. I am currently studying nutrition at Georgia State University. My goal is to get my masters in dietetics and help people pursue a healthy lifestyle without having to sacrifice eating yummy food.
  4. The blog name came from two things I love. I live for caffeine, and nothing can stop me from eating a good donut. I want people to realize that you can enjoy eating all foods. It is all about moderation.
  5. We have a rescue that we literally picked up from the side of the road. Her name is Georgia and she rules the house. img_7713-2
  6. I have been wanting to start a blog for a while but I really didn’t know what my exact direction was for the blog. I was really reluctant until I listened to a podcast by Lauryn Evarts and her new hubby Michael Bosstick. They were discussing their podcast and how Michael was so set on launching quick and adjusting as you go. So here we are launching quick. Adjusting as I go.
  7. I am super into working out but recently had to step away from the gym. I was starting to get really hard on myself, and I began using Instagram as my measuring chart. It took a toll on my mental health and I am just recently starting to gain back my own identity.
  8. I suffer from anxiety, and I am learning to be in control of myself. Slowly but surely.
  9. I love Atlanta sports. Braves, Falcons, Hawks. Always and forever.
  10. I am really excited for this journey. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

First Post

Hey y’all!

I am currently a freshman in college (decided to go back to school after attempting to make my way in the workplace right after high school), and I am just looking for a way to relax and express my frustrations of this wild ride. Bear with me as I figure out this blog thing. I am far from technologically literate. This life is a crazy one, and I am hoping that maybe someone else can find some relief and a laugh or two in my posts. Life is nothing to take too seriously.

Thanks!

Michele
