It’s been an entire month!

Y’all, I feel like the laziest, busy person in the entire world. I feel like I’m constantly going and going and going and nothing gets done. I finally stopped and asked myself, “What the hell are you busy doing?” Then it hit me; my time management SUCKS. I can honestly say there are times that the anxiety gets the best of me, and I’m so exhausted that I can barely function. However, the majority of the time I convinced myself that I should take a 30 minute break to have a snack and watch TV. 30 minutes NEVER stops at 30 minutes. In fact, I have been watching¬†This is Us (Is anyone else watching this?! Will I ever get through an episode without crying?!), and they are 45 minute episodes, so I already set myself up for failure.

So now I have identified the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing it other than, “Get off your butt and do what you need to do!”

This month and next month has and will be crazy. We ended up having to back out of our house. We were in our due diligence period, and it was foolish of me to assume the house was ours. There were some foundation issues that would end up costing us significantly more than we could handle. So we ended up having to back out. We were devastated, but you live and you learn.

Here are a couple photos of this past month. Hopefully I can get my shit straight and get back on my posting routine.

We got a new car to replace my Patriot. We got another Patriot. I like consistency. ūüôā
This is the view outside the back of the house we have moved on to. We haven’t officially closed yet. *Fingers crossed*

What have y’all been up to this past month?!

We bought a house!

I am so excited to announce that Kyle and I are in the process of purchasing our first home. It is a mid-century modern (the only style we can both agree on) built in 1959, and we are OBSESSED. So I am going to dedicate this post to some pieces that we have already bought for the home and pieces we want to buy. Please shop along!

Let’s start with the kitchen:

This is our kitchen table. My dad and my uncle built it together and I am so in love with it. It means so much to me to have something built by two men that have been constant influences in my life.

I love¬†these,¬†these, and¬†this bench¬†(this isn’t nearly long enough, but I love that look).

We got this “credenza” off craigslist, and I’m thinking I’m going to paint it a deep navy. I love that it’s kind of funky and industrial looking. We will probably work this into the kitchen because we don’t really have an actual dining room in the house. We just have a breakfast nook. I totally love that though because personally, I think formal dining rooms are wasted space.

We also have a small bar and think these chairs would look really cool.

Next on to the living room:

Another FAAAABBBULOUS craigslist find. It’s a record player, and it sounds awesome. I can’t wait to blast records and dance around the living room.

I really like the look of this love seat and couch from Underpriced Furniture.

I want to pair them with a chair like¬†this¬†in orange. (This is 100% fantasy and there is NO WAY I would ever spend anything even close to that for a chair, but maybe I will find one similar that’s cheaper? Maybe?)

I also think this rug would fit really well, along with this bookcase.

And finally, the master bedroom:

We both agreed that this bed is ideal with these nightstands.

I want this rug so bad. I think the loose lines have so much character.

The before and after of this dresser is LIFE CHANGING! Maybe I can put my big girl pants on and DIY my own.

Anyways, that’s as far as I’ve gotten on the decorating front. Do y’all have any ideas or suggestions? Links to some super sale furniture? Drop them in the comments, I will be forever indebted.

A Week of Chaos

I apologize for being gone for so long. This past week and a half has felt like a complete whirlwind. Two Fridays ago I got into a car accident (the day of the supposed and disappointing snowpocalypse), and I was almost certain my car was totaled. Luckily, no one was hurt, and we were able to exchange information quickly and get home. My car is still in the shop, and I am waiting on confirmation of fixability (my own word) right now.

Of course, classes started the Monday after the accident so I was scrambling the first couple days for ways to and from school until we were able to work the rental car out. Thankfully, I am set in my rental and getting to classes just fine.

This past Saturday Kyle and I were able to watch the Falcons kick some Seahawks BUTT! The Georgia Dome during playoffs is electric. It is such an amazing experience to scream at the top of your lungs with thousands of people you have never met but are all cheering towards the same goal. We did have a poor experience with some Seahawks fans that sat directly behind us, and that ended¬†up ruining a few quarters for me until they finally left. In the end we were able to jump around and high five our fellow Falcons fans over the win! So excited for next week’s game!

Sunday afternoon my older sister brought her two kiddos over for us to watch them overnight. She has a boy who is 10 and a girl who is 4. They are so fun, and we always love when they come over. They wear Georgia (and us) OUT!

So now I am just trying to regain some sort of composure and get ready for the week. Today will be our meal prep and laundry day since we were busy with my niece and nephew yesterday. I also have a TON of homework to get done before getting back to classes. I will never understand what possesses teachers to assign homework the first week of classes. Insane. I’ve also already taken like 3 quizzes. If you need me, you can find me curled up in a corner eating cookie dough, watching Netflix, and attempting to avoid all adult responsibilities.

What have y’all been up to since the false chaos of the 2017 Snowpocalypse?

Favorite Beauty Products

I want to start this post off by saying that I am FAR from a beauty product connoisseur. I could give you better suggestions for what exercises you should do to build your glutes or what food tastes best with gouda cheese (FYI: EVERYTHING). I just wanted to share some of my go-to products that I use on a daily basis.

  1. Physicians Formula Tinted Moisturizer– This stuff is the BOMB! It has amazing coverage and it’s super lightweight. It also has SPF 15 so I can slap it on and not worry about sun damage.
  2. Maybelline Treatment Concealer– I’m always looking for a good concealer that doesn’t make me feel like I’m putting wall spackle on my face. This concealer is thin enough to cover evenly but thick enough to cover whatever spots you have. I usually use¬†it under my eyes because my eyebags always look like they’re about to board a plane for a month long stay in the arctic tundra (if you catch my drift).
  3. Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo– I love all the hair products that I have tried from this company, but this is my favorite. It doesn’t have a strong smell that screams “I DON’T KNOW THE LAST TIME I WASHED MY HAIR!” It also absorbs really quickly so your not rolling through work looking like a skunk.
  4. Dr. Jart+ UV Sun Fluid– I only have the sample from my Birchbox so I have been extra stingy using this. It was a life saver when we went to California over the summer because I really didn’t feel like wearing tinted moisturizer, but I didn’t want to wear yucky thick sunscreen either. This stuff is thin and goes on really smoothly. It is SPF 30 so you still get a little color without all the UV rays.
  5. The Body Shop Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Exfoliator– I have been using this cleanser for years. My skin is combination, and I could never find a wash that helped both textures¬†of my skin. This stuff has little beads in it to lightly exfoliate while leaving your skin SUPER soft, and the gel helps with the oily spots. It has a slight earthy smell, but that goes away when you wash it off. It doesn’t linger. I love that it doesn’t have a strong fragrance that sometimes irritates people’s skin.

Do y’all have any beauty products that you can’t live without? I’ve been looking for a good repairing hair mask and a mascara that makes me look like I actually have lashes. Any suggestions?

Frozen

Not the movie, my body. I can honestly say I HATE cold weather. I hate it with a passion, and I dread this time of year. It’s a constant internal struggle because I really enjoy going out and seeing the decorations and celebrating the holiday season. Except, if I have to put on more than a light jacket over my sweater, that’s it. I’m staying inside. I’m a giant baby when it comes to the cold, and apparently so is Georgia.¬†

She loves to snuggle under the blankets with her toys (that she has destroyed beyond the point of recognition). Does anyone else have pups or kitties that love to curl up under the blankets? Georgia especially loves to bury her face.

When it gets cold outside, I tend to start craving hearty soups with loads of veggies. So for the past week I have been tearing up a pot of ground chicken and vegetable soup. I love throwing a dollop of cottage cheese on top and an over easy egg. SO good.

  • one pound of ground chicken sauteed in garlic and butter
  • TONS <–scientific measurement of squash, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms seasoned with Mrs. Dash Onion and Herb
  • 1 carton of unsalted chicken stock

Simmer until all vegetables are soft. SOUPer easy to do. (I made this joke to my sister yesterday and she said I should use it in casual conversation. So here’s to you Kayla)

Candles are also way more appealing to me in the winter. In the heat and humidity of Georgia summers, I almost feel like a crazy person if I light a candle. I found the above candle at on sale at Target during the summer ¬†and it has quickly become my absolute favorite. It’s called pink magnolia and smells just like the name, like magnolia flowers and even has a light hint¬†of pink grapefruit.¬†I’ve been burning it to death, so I need to find more to hoard for life. What are some of your favorite candles?

*This post was supposed to go up yesterday, but it was a bit of mass chaos yesterday. Sorry guys!*
